Peach Melba Shake
Stuck for ideas for renal snacks and drinks. Due to popular demand I have developed this recipe for a nourishing shake that is suitable for people with chronic kidney disease. If you have a poor appetite, are on a low potassium or phosphate diet and need extra nutrition, this is a recipe for you! Its super easy and only requires a few ingredients.
Renal milkshake: Peach Melba
Ingredients
100ml rice milk
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
4 teaspoons thickened cream
80g canned, diced peaches in juice (Drain the juice)
50g frozen raspberries
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
Place all ingredients in a blender or use a hand mixer and bowl
Blend until smooth and creamy, top with a few extra raspberries
Makes 2 serves
Protein per serve: 3.5g
Sodium per serve: 70mg
Potassium per serve: 5mmol
Phosphate per serve: 3mmol
